Neighborhood Watch was created by the National Sheriffs' Association, in conjunction with several well-known federal agencies, to advance this cause by encouraging the initiation and/or revitalization of Neighborhood Watch programs throughout the country. One of the oldest and best known crime prevention concepts in history, Neighborhood Watch was created to unite law enforcement agencies, private organizations, and individual citizens in a massive effort to reduce residential crime. |
- Do your part: Neighborhood Watch a Must. Several home break-ins have occurred on the Lake in JanuaryA Coffee With The Cops meeting this past Saturday revealed that total crime in Antioch has dropped between 2008 and 2009, but some categories have increased, such as aggravated assaults and car thefts.
Budget cuts have forced the police to cut some services such as the traffic control, it's a matter of priorities. The Community Action Team (CAT) is still partially active. That team has done some good stuff on the Lake.
Now, more than ever, we all need to be aware of our surroundings and help out with constant observations and reporting to the police if we see potential criminal behavior. The police track all calls for service and if they notice a particular high call area, the will act. I have talked to CAT officers and they have certain 'hot spots' on the Lake. What makes them hot spots is your calling.
Sign up to be on our Lake email list. I have sent messages to all on the list of things I heard about. I also seek your input on current events or problems.
